The Governing Body Are Like Sea Captains On The Titanic Encouraging Passengers Not To Get In The Life Boats Till It Sinks
by frankiespeakin inthey are in serious denial over all the evidence that the ship/organization is going down in the sea of the ocean of information hit by the internet iceberg.
they want to milk the rank and file from as much($&labor) as they can get from them before the ship sinks into notorious oblivian.. we should expect this mentality to lead them into desperate measures lacking all sense just as hitler faced his last days directing his generals into deadly manuvers dispite their objections.
a desperate man driven by fear and in denial rushing headlong into defeat so obvious, some high ranking military men tried to kill him but failed.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/adolf_hitler.

Pioneers during the 1920s/1930s and earlier
by A question in-what exactly was their standard of living?
could they afford some nice things sometimes?.
-how much did they socialize with other witnesses, either those serving in other areas or those in their assignment, outside of meetings and service?

A question
Just to clarify, I am aware of what the publications say about that time, and how it involved traveling around and trading literature for supplies. So I do have knowledge of that. Thanks for the replies so far, they are interesting. Keep em coming. :)

-What exactly was their standard of living? Could they afford some nice things sometimes?
-How much did they socialize with other Witnesses, either those serving in other areas or those in their assignment, outside of meetings and service? How often?
-Did they enjoy recreation/entertainment (i.e. playing sports, going to movies, and so forth)?
Please, only comments from those who know directly about how such things were back then, perhaps from knowing or talking to someone who served in that capacity. I am not really interested in speculation such as 'it must have been such and such because...'
Thanks for any info you have!

Special Pioneers in 'Third World' Countries
by A question ini have heard that the allowance for special pioneers in poor, third world countries is enough that they actually have a standard of living or income higher than many in the general population around them.
(not that they need to be as poor as everyone else though, that would not help them get those hours in either.).
has anyone else heard of or seen this?

calling all elders - what goes on at the week long elders school?
by not bitter inmy dad is currently attending a week long elders school.
dad is in his 70's and not in great health at the moment so this is adding to my anger that he is having to leave the house at 7am and doesn't return until 6pm and then has to lock himself away to study further in preparation for the next day.. he has also been told he is not to discuss anything about the school with other elders until they have all attended.
what are they learning about that isnt' already out there for all to read anyway.. they can't be learning more bible stuff as the bible is there to be read by the general public so i can only assume that its all top secret stuff that the rest of the congregation can't know about.
